Learn to Row

Learn to Row is a beginning course for adult men and women with no previous rowing experience. The course introduces rowing, rowing fundamentals, skill development in basic technique, and boat safety.

The first week concentrates on body positioning on a rowing machine, oar handling, and on-water rowing in a 16-person training boat.  The second week focuses on sculling with two oars in a 4-person boat. The course goal is to learn skills necessary to continue rowing for fitness and fun.

The class includes 7 sessions over a 2 week period, with the final class meeting to row with members of DRC on a Saturday morning. Sessions are held during June and July.

A Refresher Class offers adults who have taken a learn to row class in the past or have had previous rowing experience the opportunity to brush up on their rowing technique. This is 3 session class offered in early June.

Participants wear workout clothing that won’t get caught in a sliding rowing seat, tennis/running shoes (not sandals), and dress in layers, as Park Point weather varies.
