The Duluth Rowing Club is a non-profit 501(c)3, volunteer-operated organization that relies on community support to continue Duluth’s strong rowing tradition.

Continue the Tradition

Over the years, generous donors have made contributions to support youth programming, club operations, the purchase of new rowing shells and equipment, and the biggest project of all – the construction of the Duluth Rowing Center.

 Sources of Revenue

The DRC’s primary sources of revenue are member fees, learn to row courses, and proceeds from events like the Duluth International Regatta. Youth member fees are intentionally kept affordable to ensure that the Junior Program is accessible to all youth. Youth and adult scholarships are available, and no one is turned away for inability to pay the fee.

To meet its budget, the DRC also conducts fundraising events and has an annual giving campaign. Targeted fundraising is also done for projects, such as new programs and equipment.

Current Fundraising Focus: New Trailer to Transport Boats

Funds are needed for a new trailer to transport boats to regattas

The DRC is in dire need of a trailer to transport boats to regattas.  Going to regattas is a vital part of the rowing experience for both youth and adults.  It increases motivation to improve rowing technique and row harder, further develops teamwork, and traveling together builds camaraderie among the crew and enhances the fun of the sport.

The current trailer is over 40 years old and in constant need of repairs.  It is also starting to flex which is damaging to the fragile rowing shells while in transport.  A new trailer will be safer on the road, extend the life of our rowing shells, and have far less maintenance costs.

The DRC is now raising funds to purchase a 39-foot, four-level, dual axel trailer.  It will have support shelfs to stand on  that will improve safety when loading and unloading boats.

The cost of the trailer is $33,000. An anonymous donor has contributed $10,000 and the DRC Board of Directors has earmarked $10,000 for the trailer.  The DRC seeks to raise the remaining $13,000 from current and past rowers and the broader community.

Please help the Club obtain a new trailer in time for the 2023 season.  The DRC appreciates gifts of any amount.

Buy a Commemorative Brick

Thank you for supporting DRC!

You can have your name or that of someone you wish to recognize engraved on a brick that will be permanently placed in the patio area at the Duluth Rowing Center.

The cost is $125, which is a tax-deductible donation. These bricks make great gifts for Junior Rowers and for adults who are past or present rowers.
