Adults

The DRC has an active group of adult and masters rowers, ranging in age from 19 to 70+ years. Many row for recreation and fitness; others enjoy training and competing at regional, national, and international regattas; all participate in the Club’s lively community.

“There is nothing better than starting your day on the water with friends.”

The Club has equipment designed for the full range of rowing abilities, from stable recreational to sleek racing shells. Coaches and experienced rowers help new rowers progress and, as they gain experience, they can move into faster, sleeker boats. Adults can choose to row solo in a single shell or join a crew in doubles, quads, 4’s and 8’s.

Adult rowing times accomodate a typical working schedule, 6:00-8:00 a.m. weekdays and 5:00-8:00 p.m. weeknights.  Weekend times are also available.  (See schedule below.) Mornings typically offer calmer water, which is better for rowing.  Even though it is early, as we rowers often say, “there is nothing better than starting your day on the water with friends.”

Rowing is a great way to improve overall fitness. It provides a full-body, low-impact workout and aerobic conditioning. Many find rowing offers excellent cross-training for other sports such as running or nordic skiing.

In addition to rowing, a strong sense of camaraderie and fun comes with being part of the DRC. Social events and group rows, like Thursday night Crew and Brew, are part of the Club’s culture. Hosting Duluth regattas and traveling to regattas in Canada and other parts of the US also build team spirit and friendships.

Crew & Brew

June 20 – August 29
Thursdays 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Crew & Brew gives rowers of all levels the opportunity to row together in larger crew boats, such as 8’s and quads, and to socialize afterwards at Hoops Brewery. There is no charge for DRC members and is open to those with previous rowing experience for a $15 fee. Just show up and be ready to row. Watch the DRC Facebook page if the event is canceled due to inclement weather.
